CC 0318 Inquiry / Project Based Approach to Teaching and Learning

Description:
The Inquiry approach is a philosophy of teaching and way of planning curriculum that focuses on being responsive to children’s interests to create meaningful learning experiences.  This presentation will illustrate the Inquiry cycle, including observations, invitations and provocations to learning, explorations, documentation and reflection.  We will also touch on schemas theory, learning webs and the theory of loose parts.  This session will conclude with a slide show of an actual inquiry-based project from start to finish.

Tricia has been working with children, families and communities for over 25 years in diverse roles including early learning and child care, family support, community development, special education, rehabilitation and behavioral intervention.  Tricia is a graduate of the ELCC diploma program and is celebrating her tenth year in Family Child Care.  She has gained invaluable experience and knowledge through her unique combination of education and professional experiences and is excited to share her passion for respectful and reflective practice.
